We slept in a bit and said goodbye to Andrew and Lauren, who would be leaving for Cuba before we got back on Sunday night. We drove to the AC Hotel Miami Aventura, which was extremely nice, and checked in to our room. We met up with Ilana, our friend who had flown in for the wedding from Boston, and picked up food for lunch from Whole Foods (Ilana and Abe) and Subway (Arielle). We drove a bit to the beach, where we went to sit out by the water for about an hour and a half. It was nice and the weather was perfect. The water, on the other hand, was just a bit chilly.
After we left, Waze directed us to a place where we couldn’t actually cross the barrier to make a left into Publix on the way back to the hotel, but we managed to turn around and go there anyway, picking up a number of items for us to be able to eat throughout the weekend. We returned to the hotel to get ready for Shabbat. We met back up with Ilana and our other visiting friends, including Adina, Shayna, Brandon, Mollie, and Steven, to walk over to the Aventura Lakes Clubhouse. We recognized a number of friends and acquaintances from New York, and were honored with having Shosh and Eric, the bride and groom, sit next to us at our table for a bit during dinner. The chicken was delicious and all of the baked goods made by Shosh’s mom were terrific, as was the tofu that Shosh herself cooked to complement the catered meal. It was a wonderful event and a great way to set the mood for a lovely weekend. We walked back to the hotel and helped to set up the hospitality suite before heading to bed.
