Day 2.20: Atlanta Day 2

We woke up relatively early to get ready to walk to synagogue with Hillel after a light breakfast. Sarah came later with Jonah for tot services. Pizmon performed two songs, Zamru and When You Believe (from The Prince of Egypt), before a bagel lunch during which Hillel and Abe ate way too many of the delicious cookies. We again sang from Hillel’s songbook with a small group of committed congregants before walking back to the house. We convinced Sarah and Hillel to forego their afternoon naps so that we could instead chat for several hours. Hillel and Abe walked back for Mincha (the afternoon service) and Seudah Shlishit (the third meal of Shabbat) featuring salmon and singing led by Pizmon. Abe made a connection to the parents of one of the Pizmon students, identifying their synagogue as one he knew and where our friends Shayna and Mollie, who we just saw at the wedding, grew up. Abe walked back to the house during the next program only to find Sarah, Arielle, and Jonah about to leave, so they walked back all together. We enjoyed the Havdalah concert with Pizmon, the highlights of which were the synagogue’s Special Friends group joining them for Nachamu and their rendition of V’hee Sheamdah that has become quite popular in USY.

We left before the ice cream social to drive back home and made some mushroom pizza. We introduced Sarah and Hillel to One Night Ultimate Werewolf, and they quickly took to it, intellectually analyzing every possible scenario each time the villagers had to try to kill the werewolves. We stayed up even later than the past two nights, heading to bed around 1:30am.

Approximate number of miles covered: 3
